Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is different from relaxation massage in that it uses a more therapeutic approach. There are specific goals or areas that are addressed to relieve muscular tension or pain. People with low back, leg, or neck and shoulder pain find more relief from deep tissue massage.

Deep tissue massage helps with recovery time for the weekend athlete or avid sports enthusiast. Muscles and ligaments perform and heal better. Possible injuries can be avoided if the ligaments and tendons are properly treated ahead of time. We don't recommend deep tissue massage the day before an event as your muscles would be too relaxed to perform at optimum levels. Techniques used in deep tissue massage can also help increase range of motion in the shoulders, hips and knees. Deep tissue massage can often help many of the same issues that people seek chiropractic care for, and it is often less expensive as well.

Even though the main purpose of deep tissue massage is therapeutic, it can often be just as relaxing as any other type of massage. Many people avoid deep tissue treatment because they think it will be too painful. More pressure is applied to work out trigger points and tense muscle bands, but it doesn't need to be painful. If the pressure is too strong or uncomfortable, simply tell your massage therapist and they will reduce the pressure to a comfortable level. If you do like some pain, then you can expect to be a little sore the next day or two after treatment. We customize every massage to our client's needs.

Massage therapists use their fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows and even their forearms during deep tissue massage. This helps them apply the right amount of pressure to treat adhesions, and knots. You’ll also want to drink plenty of water afterwards to help flush out metabolic waste from the tissues and reduce any residual pain in the muscles after they have been worked.

Couples Massage

While the term “couples massage” might seem self-explanatory it can sometimes be confusing as to what actually happens. Couples massage involves two clients, two massage tables, two massage therapists, in the same room, at the same time.

There are several reasons why you might want to try a couples massage. The first is probably the most obvious, for a romantic couple to have a relaxing experience together. Giving a gift certificate for a romantic couples massage to a partner can be a great idea for a birthday, anniversary, or other celebration. Valentine's Day is a popular time for couples massage.

It can also be a way to introduce your loved one to the restorative benefits of massage. If you know someone who would benefit from massage, but would never schedule an appointment on their own, a couples massage is a great way to introduce them to massage in the comfort of your company.

We sell many couples massage gift certificates for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays, and anniversaries. Guys...listen up! I've never seen a woman upset in 19 years of practice with the gift of a couples massage. (Dinner afterwards is a plus as well!)

Many of the experiences we have in life, we approach with a little fear and apprehension, so to make things easier or more enjoyable, we ask a friend to come along. This can also be the case for your first massage. Getting a massage with someone you know can help ease any nervousness you might have about this new experience.

We at Eau Claire Massage are here to serve you and make you as comfortable as possible. Call today to schedule your couples massage with that "special someone." We look forward to serving you!
